Early Spring - Sailfish are IN!!

Captain Wayne’s Fishing Report

The past few weeks we have experienced an increase in daytime sailfish action, with multiple hook ups and releases on nearly every trip. The sails are moving to the south usually between 80 and 200 feet of water, along a color change edge. When we have a northerly swell condition, the fish can be seen tailing down the waves, sometimes in groups with as large as 5 to 10 fish! The best baits to present are any live bait you can catch. Herring, pilchards, and Goggle-eyes top the list. Scattered kingfish, dolphin (Mahi-Mahi), bonito, and bottom fish such as mutton snapper are also being caught.
The best fishing right now has been the night trip. Many nights we are catching near limit amounts of yellowtail. Small bluefish, blue runners, and other assorted panfish fill out the catch.
